Performance Experience

Sharon Tree has been playing and performing for nearly thirty years… from humble beginnings in school choirs, recorder band, concert band, rock bands and musicals, to adult gigs in pubs, at weddings and parties, and in churches.

Teaching History

Since 2005, following a move to Canberra from Brisbane, Sharon has worked full time as a music educator. This work has included private singing and piano tuition, choral direction and accompaniment, and university tuition. Sharon’s postgraduate and undergraduate studies covered the history of classical music, music theory, and most recently a detailed examination of the voice and vocal training, with an emphasis on contemporary and jazz styles. Her performance and educational experiences are diverse, and include church ministry as a leader, vocalist and keyboardist.

Sharon is committed to helping people understand themselves as they come to understand their own voice, believing that the two are closely linked. She stays in touch with current research through her wide reading and networks with colleagues, via her membership of the Australian National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Music Teachers’ Association (NSW).
